Recap of days 1-2

It feels like it has been so long since surgery but it's only day 3! Unbelievable! Well I'm at my mom's house and not doing too bad. My goal for today may be to take a shower, but idk if that will happen. Some things that are going on with me:

-I'm not wired/banded shut! It's great! I can drink out of cup and eat/drink anything that I don't have to chew, but I also talk a lot, which makes my jaw very sore lol.

-I have an arched splint on my top teeth, so no chewing obviously. It's pretty annoying and makes it very hard to talk, but it's not too bad. Getting used to it.

-surgeon cleared out like a ton of non-cancerous polps out of my sinus cavity, so my breathing should be so much better now.

-the first night after surgery I basically slept all night and the nurses were all amazed. It's because I could breathe so well! Lol plus I had my own room with jonny there helping me so it was fairly quiet.

-pumping and dumping sucks. But I didn't have much of a choice because I was leaking everywhere! Lol jonny was crucial in helping me get it all setup and cleaning it every time.

-My nose stuffed up yesterday all day until I got to use the nasal spray and vaporizer. Slept very well last night.

-all in all my surgery went very well. My cheeks are really swollen and my nose, too. Been trying to clean it out as much as possible, but I can breathe so I don't want to cause any nose bleeds. I had one when I went to the bathroom for the first time, none since though. Boogie wipes are amazing.

-been eating soup, cream of wheat and ensure. Pretty satisfied so far! :)

I just want this swelling to go away. Haven't really been able to clean my teeth yet, hopefully will try today. Just took some pain medicine because if the dull lower jaw ache.

That's all!

1 YEAR POST OP

Well HEY! Nothing much has been happening with my mouth lately (WHICH IS GREAT!) so that's why I haven't updated or anything. But TODAY marks ONE YEAR since my jaw was broken in two places! Can't believe that I went though with it. It was honestly the best medical decision of my life (except for maybe my epidural HAHA). I wear my retainers in the evenings and all night. I see my orthodontist and my surgeon in April. I'm hoping I get the go ahead from my ortho to only wear to bed, but we'll see. I'm still extremely happy with my smile. There are tiny gaps in little places occurring but there's nothing I can do about those- says my ortho. Just normal movement. They don't bother me either. I still can't really feel my upper gums, but it doesn't bother me at all anymore. It's just weird sometimes. I love my smile! I wish I had more to say, but here's some photo spam instead. :P Me, TODAY. Loving life and my new smile!  Me...

Day 6

My set-up at my mom's. Vaporizer, for the win! This water bottle also has been amazing! So glad I got that and the jaw bra beforehand. They have both been lifesavers!  My parents and bff gave me the same get well card. Are they trying to tell me something? haha It was amusing. Yesterday was a great day! We had a full house at my mom's. My Uncle even dropped by.. even though it was just to have my dad help him buy movies off of his iPad, lol. My dad made me breakfast and lunch and my sister made me a banana-pineapple smoothie. It was bomb! I wish it weren't so cold or else I could go for more walks but it was a good day yesterday. Jon and the peanut came over, too and we had a ton of fun! I painted my nails rainbow (because I'm awesome) and Uncle Lou Lou played with Millie a lot. Driving in her favorite car! Getting fed by daddy. I miss feeding my baby girl. ;(  I had pureed spaghetti and meatballs for dinner! It's not much to look at, but oh man...

2 months post op!

Wow! I can't believe it's been 2 months already! SO much has changed within the past 2 weeks. I'm hoping it's all thanks to my splint removal! That thing was miserable. Things are really great right now. Amelia, 10 months old ahhhhh, is sleeping through the night now and that makes a HUGE difference. Swelling: It still varies, but it's mostly not noticeable to random people. I notice a little bit. Still around my upper cheeks but it's definitely not as bad as it was. Now that I'm chewing I think that has helped a lot. My lips are back to their regular size! Numbness:  My upper palate and upper gums are still numb. Makes things a little hard to chew but I'm getting the hang of it. Not sure if I'll ever get feeling back there. It's a little annoying because I think I have a cavity on one of my upper teeth and it hurts to floss, but only at the root of my tooth, haha. I guess that's a good thing? Pain : Only after ortho adjustments. No r...
