Week 6 continues....

Don't know why the orthodontist thought it was a good idea to rubber-band my crown that had only temporary cement on it.... So it came loose on Wednesday night.

Called ortho frantically and they just HAPPENED to be at my office on Thursday afternoon. They are only there every 6th Thursday. So weird. So he said there was really nothing else he could do so he unhooked the crown (and changed my band configuration) and I took it with me to my dentist.

Yes, I took a photo of it. ;) FOR MY BLOG OF COURSE. Hahahaha.

Just let me say that my dentist is amazing. I have never had any problems with anything he's done in my mouth. He is the sweetest and just shoulder surgery like 4 weeks ago and is already back in the office. He can't raise his arm very far but he doesn't need to while working on people's mouths I guess, haha.

So he had my crown back on in like 5 min and it didn't even hurt even though my tooth was so sensitive to air and liquid. And my dentist ALWAYS explains things so super thoroughly. When I got my one, and only, root canal, he explained to me what he was doing the whole time. Yesterday I was concerned that my tooth may need a root canal because it hurt so much, but he reassured me that the tooth looked great underneath and the sensitivity was just because he had removed most of my enamel before he placed the crown in the first place so it would stay on better. Interesting fact!

Anyway here's my new band configuration- tiny triangles!

The pain from my tooth went away INSTANTLY when he correctly put my crown on. It was amazing really. Had no problems eating dinner, etc. I'm still chewing on my cheeks a little bit, but I am getting better.

Got my hair cut, too! I plan on dying it sometime soon (bought the hair dye), but just haven't gotten around to it....

Angled bobs are awesome. Very difficult for Amelia to pull at this! Love it! Hope everyone has a great weekend! Hopefully nothing else crazy will happen before my next orthodontist appt on the 20th. ;) Fingers crossed!!!!!

1 YEAR POST OP

Well HEY! Nothing much has been happening with my mouth lately (WHICH IS GREAT!) so that's why I haven't updated or anything. But TODAY marks ONE YEAR since my jaw was broken in two places! Can't believe that I went though with it. It was honestly the best medical decision of my life (except for maybe my epidural HAHA). I wear my retainers in the evenings and all night. I see my orthodontist and my surgeon in April. I'm hoping I get the go ahead from my ortho to only wear to bed, but we'll see. I'm still extremely happy with my smile. There are tiny gaps in little places occurring but there's nothing I can do about those- says my ortho. Just normal movement. They don't bother me either. I still can't really feel my upper gums, but it doesn't bother me at all anymore. It's just weird sometimes. I love my smile! I wish I had more to say, but here's some photo spam instead. :P Me, TODAY. Loving life and my new smile!  Me...

Day 6

My set-up at my mom's. Vaporizer, for the win! This water bottle also has been amazing! So glad I got that and the jaw bra beforehand. They have both been lifesavers!  My parents and bff gave me the same get well card. Are they trying to tell me something? haha It was amusing. Yesterday was a great day! We had a full house at my mom's. My Uncle even dropped by.. even though it was just to have my dad help him buy movies off of his iPad, lol. My dad made me breakfast and lunch and my sister made me a banana-pineapple smoothie. It was bomb! I wish it weren't so cold or else I could go for more walks but it was a good day yesterday. Jon and the peanut came over, too and we had a ton of fun! I painted my nails rainbow (because I'm awesome) and Uncle Lou Lou played with Millie a lot. Driving in her favorite car! Getting fed by daddy. I miss feeding my baby girl. ;(  I had pureed spaghetti and meatballs for dinner! It's not much to look at, but oh man...

2 months post op!

Wow! I can't believe it's been 2 months already! SO much has changed within the past 2 weeks. I'm hoping it's all thanks to my splint removal! That thing was miserable. Things are really great right now. Amelia, 10 months old ahhhhh, is sleeping through the night now and that makes a HUGE difference. Swelling: It still varies, but it's mostly not noticeable to random people. I notice a little bit. Still around my upper cheeks but it's definitely not as bad as it was. Now that I'm chewing I think that has helped a lot. My lips are back to their regular size! Numbness:  My upper palate and upper gums are still numb. Makes things a little hard to chew but I'm getting the hang of it. Not sure if I'll ever get feeling back there. It's a little annoying because I think I have a cavity on one of my upper teeth and it hurts to floss, but only at the root of my tooth, haha. I guess that's a good thing? Pain : Only after ortho adjustments. No r...
