Braces: ENGAGE!

So I've had my braces on for exactly three weeks now. (I will photo them later) And I've been back to the dentist office twice. So once a week- I go. One of my molar braces came off. TWICE. He said he was hoping not to band my molars, but he's going to have to band this one because it's just not staying on. (Combination of reasons - bad enamel, biting)

I've BITTEN down on it TWICE in my sleep. It wakes me up every time. It just hits in the right spot to make it break off. So right now I have a separator in for that tooth and will be getting it banded NEXT Tuesday. (Since my office is only open TUESDAYS... ugh)

Today my dentist, Dr. Mortimer, said that my teeth are aligning fairly well though lol. So that's good to hear. Another dentist's office that loves me because I'm literally in there all the freaking time haha. Also they took a TON of my money already- so they best be nice to me! Next time I may try and ask him "approximately" how long I should have these on for.. but I don't expect a solid answer.

Oh FYI- This is where I will be talking/complaining about my teeth. LOL

My current gripe-  I'm not sure from what (a combination of my acid reflux and that stupid Peridex rinse probably) but my enamel on my teeth is like completely ruined. They are so brown now. And so sensitive to everything. Ortho said to stay away from whitening tooth pastes so I've been using Pronamel tooth paste and a fluoride rinse to no avail. I have a regular dental cleaning in February. I think I'm just going to wait until then because I don't need to schedule any other appointments right now haha.

On my Christmas list- A WaterPik. My co-worker recommended it highly for braces.Obviously I'll still be flossing (I love the floss picks the best!), but this may make my month feel cleaner, easier to remove food particles.

So that's all for today. I'll hopefully be taking a few photos tonight of my braces (sans one banded I guess). :)

Smile for me today!!!!!!

1 YEAR POST OP

Well HEY! Nothing much has been happening with my mouth lately (WHICH IS GREAT!) so that's why I haven't updated or anything. But TODAY marks ONE YEAR since my jaw was broken in two places! Can't believe that I went though with it. It was honestly the best medical decision of my life (except for maybe my epidural HAHA). I wear my retainers in the evenings and all night. I see my orthodontist and my surgeon in April. I'm hoping I get the go ahead from my ortho to only wear to bed, but we'll see. I'm still extremely happy with my smile. There are tiny gaps in little places occurring but there's nothing I can do about those- says my ortho. Just normal movement. They don't bother me either. I still can't really feel my upper gums, but it doesn't bother me at all anymore. It's just weird sometimes. I love my smile! I wish I had more to say, but here's some photo spam instead. :P Me, TODAY. Loving life and my new smile!  Me...

Surgery date soon to come!!!

I'm too excited to wait to post... I will be getting a surgery date THIS WEEK! My orthodontist met with the surgeon on Friday and they said I'm "officially" ready!! They called me at like 4:30 on Monday afternoon and told me to call the surgeon. Even though I had an 8 a.m. appt on Tuesday morning at the ortho, lol. So I called on Tuesday afternoon and they were like... um we don't even have the paperwork back from their meeting yet- haaaaaa. So they were like- we will call you before Friday. So by FRIDAY I will have a date!!!!! Hopefully. I'm just so excited. And extremely nervous. Mostly nervous. And for the first time in like four months my teeth hurt after the adjustment they did. Yuck. It was hard to chew things yesterday. It's mostly better today though. And as far as breastfeeding goes- my supply dropped when I had a bad illness two weeks ago. So I thought I'd start feeding her formula for one bottle per day to start weaning her, then s...

2 months post op!

Wow! I can't believe it's been 2 months already! SO much has changed within the past 2 weeks. I'm hoping it's all thanks to my splint removal! That thing was miserable. Things are really great right now. Amelia, 10 months old ahhhhh, is sleeping through the night now and that makes a HUGE difference. Swelling: It still varies, but it's mostly not noticeable to random people. I notice a little bit. Still around my upper cheeks but it's definitely not as bad as it was. Now that I'm chewing I think that has helped a lot. My lips are back to their regular size! Numbness:  My upper palate and upper gums are still numb. Makes things a little hard to chew but I'm getting the hang of it. Not sure if I'll ever get feeling back there. It's a little annoying because I think I have a cavity on one of my upper teeth and it hurts to floss, but only at the root of my tooth, haha. I guess that's a good thing? Pain : Only after ortho adjustments. No r...
